Bridging the Gap: A Conversation Across Generations
We hosted Bridging the Gap, a special intergenerational poetry event at Politics and Prose, Washington, D.C.’s leading independent bookstore, designed and led in collaboration with 92-year-old Maryland Poet Laureate Grace Cavalieri. Inspired by themes of memory, aging, and the passage of time, the gathering used poetry as a bridge across generations. The evening featured a fireside conversation and performances by Grace Cavalieri and Tara Prakash, followed by readings from acclaimed guest poets of all ages. With an audience of more than 60 attendees—including Write to Right students and community members—the event celebrated the power of poetry to connect voices across ages.
